Finding Financial Aid for 4-year colleges and universities
Know the financial aid deadlines:
(Each school is different so be aware of what the deadlines are)

If you do not already have one, apply for a PIN number at http://www.pin.ed.gov/: this 4 digit number identifies you to the Department of Education and is used as an electronic signature

If you are a New York State Resident apply for TAP on the link provided after you file your FAFSA

Check with institutions you are applying to determine if any other financial aid forms are required

Apply for scholarships and grants; a growing number of scholarships are available for transfer students with a good grade point averag

Look into Work Study programs at the college

Keep organized: take notes, write calendar reminders for deadlines and contacts
