5 Things I Love about FMCC: Diversity, small student body, individualized attention from faculty, athletics, and the peaceful environment
Why FMCC? I wanted to escape the city life and experience rural America while being able to get a good education without amassing huge debt.
First Day: I came to orientation and ate lots of food. I felt shy because I did not know anyone. I ate as much as I could and went back to the dorms.
Initial Thoughts: I was happy that I made the decision to come here. I thought that I would be able to concentrate more on school work. When I first saw the cows and farms around school it was a bit of a culture shock but now I am used to the manure smell.
Staying Busy: Now my primary focus is ending the basketball season on a high note. We are going to Nationals which is incredible. I am proud that I have been able to be a part of the team while excelling in my studies.
New Friends: I have met a lot of new people over the past 2 years that I can truly call friends during my experince at FMCC.
Small Town Living: The adjustment to a small town was difficult for the first few weeks but then I adjusted. After graduation I plan to move on to a larger city but I can definately see myself coming back to this area for vacation to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Multi-Cultural Campus: Even though the campus is small and rural I think there is a lot of diversity to the student body. I have met many people from around the world including Poland and Russia. It was interesting to live and play basketball with them. The campus has more diversity then people think.
Career Goal: I have my eye on RPI for business administration. They have been contacting me. This makes me happy and proud. Eventually, I plan on earning my M.B.A. and starting my own sports management company. Playing college ball and being captain this year has helped me excel in time management. I know this skill with my drive and determination with help me be successful in my career and life pursuits.
